Prayer and Praise

Prayer and Praise

Prayer is vital for the Christian. So much so that Martin Luther once said that, “To be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing.” Prayer “delights God’s ear” and “outlives those who utter them” (Thomas Watson and E.M Bounds respectively). Prayer is such a privilege and we should never neglect to lift all things to the Sovereign One, both in personal times of prayer and prayer as the Church (Acts 2:42).

That’s why iKnow comes with a Prayer and Praise feature!

Prayer

Christ Himself prayed (Mark 1:35) and gave us the ingredients of how to pray in the Lord’s Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13). By lifting things to God, we have the blessing of partaking in His will. Might we encourage you to use the feature for such a blessing!?

Sometimes it can be hard to pray (Romans 8:26-27), and it’s such an encouraging thing to know that your brothers and sisters in Christ are praying along with you, and in some cases when it’s really tough, to know that they’re praying for you. You also have the option to list your prayer requests anonymously if you wish, and hit ‘I’m praying!’ on the requests you’re praying for to partake in the encouragement.

Along with more personal requests, you can invest in praying as a Church for specific causes, missionaries, your community or the world!

Praise

Praise the Lord, all nations! Glorify him, all peoples! For His faithful love to us is great; the Lord’s faithfulness endures forever. Hallelujah! - Psalm 117

You can use the Prayer and Praise feature to give God the praise He so deserves! Whether it’s in response to an answered prayer request, for Him answering in a way more abundantly than you even asked, for His faithful goodness in the waiting, because of His work in yours or a friends life, or simply because He is God alone and worthy of all praise! Share and have people rejoice in the Lord with you, for His glory (1 Chronicles 16:8-36).

Both Prayers and Praise can be published on the iKnow dashboard, or be sent through to your prayer chain/network. Details of how to do this can be found here.

Let us cherish the reality that Christ Himself prays for us (Hebrews 7:25) and the angels fill the heavens with praise as they witness God’s salvation plan unfold (1 Peter 1:12, Revelation 7:11-12). Let us partake and be glad.
