Church Branding with iKnow

“For the body does not consist of one member but of many…God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. If all were a single member, where would the body be?” 1 Corinthians 12:14-19

Each church has it’s own unique vision and calling to address a specific set of needs of the area that God has placed it in; branding provides a visual identity to communicate a clear intention to those within and without the church.

Having consistent branding helps to solidify a vision so that it is easily recognisable. For example when we look at global business brands such as McDonalds or Apple, they have very distinct branding that sets them apart from similar companies around them. Strong, coherent branding promotes recognition and familiarity, it also provides their staff with motivation and direction.

Branding the church is not about coercing people to your church by using strong graphics or good imagery but it is a way to create a consistent message that is easily understood by those outside your church and within it, making the vision clear and understandable to all so that everyone knows what to expect from that church. As Paul wrote to the Corinthians, each of us has a specific job to do, branding will help people know what your church is called to do and assist them in envisioning their particular role too.

Branding is more than just a logo - it is the culture of an organisation distilled into key strategic elements, good branding will capture the essence of the culture and use it in creating the overall brand experience. It affects everything that people will come into contact with, from the language that you use to the imagery, changing the way that people perceive and interact with the brand.

Because every church is unique and has a distinctive vision and culture within it, we have designed iKnow to provide the flexibility to allow it to be used in a way that works best with your church.

Here are some suggestions that you may want to consider when tailoring iKnow to reflect your church’s brand:

  • Change the wording in the dictionary to reflect the language used in your church, for example, you may call homegroups ‘connect groups’ or ‘small groups’, by using the dictionary in your settings module you can customise these yourself.

  • Consider a branded login page to personalise iKnow further by displaying your logo and any imagery or text that will represent the unique visual identity of your church. If you would like this service then please contact a member of our team in regards to pricing.

  • iKnow is designed to help with pastoral care, one way you can do this is by recording specific markers within a person's spiritual journey. However each church may have different markers, such as Alpha or the Freedom in Christ courses, these can be added to the journey items to further tailor it to the culture of your church.

  • iKnow can be synced up with MailChimp, an email newsletter provider. Using MailChimp can be a great way to send out regular newsletters to your church, it is a free tool to use and it allows you to customise the templates, which will help provide a coherent brand message. If you would like a customised design template for your newsletter then please contact us.

  • Connect with people on-the-go with a mobile app designed specifically for your church. You can easily create a customised app for your church within iKnow, applying your own branding and logo.
