GDPR Advice for Churches

If you need to get permission from each data subject for whom you hold information then this could be quite time consuming.  This would be for all people on whom you hold data so, as well as church members, you should (for example) include:

  • Members who have left

  • People who got married in the church or are planning to

  • People in the community who have been offered or are receiving pastoral care

  • Young people who attend your youth events

  • Children/parents who attend holiday clubs

If you need to get permission afresh then contacting all of these people will take time as you must get permission by the 25th May 2018.  You then need to record that they gave permission, or remove them from your records if they declined permission or did not respond.
